FANTASY TRACKS MY TRACKS SHANES PARK
Shanes Park is located in the outer suburbs of Sydney. I have created a 5.79km clockwise circuit within the suburb using only existing roads other then the chicane and the pit complex.

Ultimately, it's quite obvious that it could not be used in reality as there really is nothing too special about it, other then maybe the first few corners of the circuit. However, the upside is that the circuit really doesn't cut into any private property. The pit complex is built on Government Property, which has been laying idle for years now. A small portion of the land is being turning into a new housing estate, but not near the proposed pit complex.

So let's take a lap around the circuit.

Going down pit straight, the various bumps down the straight make for a real car basher. Braking must be made early into the right hander of Turn 1. The track actually eases you into the first corner, however, the change of sudden direction may upset the balance of the car, and there's no room for error for that.

If you manage to get through the first two corners, it's a short run up to Turn 3. It's not a hard corner, however the minimal off-camber may upset the car a bit. Now it's time to relax. Turn 4 could be taken easily, however the sudden drop down to Turn 5 will shock first time drivers of the circuit. Turn 5 requires minimal braking. Turn 6 is your standard corner, nothing too special about it.

Turn 7 now is very similar to Turn 6, however, there is once again no margin for error. The road dips down suddenly into what seems like a small creek, before it rises up again to Turn 8. Once again, nothing special about Turn 9.

Turn 10 now involves precision cornering to get the best speed into the long straight. The track doesn't go on the actual road, however, turn in earlier. This is done fo safety reasons, so there is some run off area just in case. Now it's on the pedal for the run in the trees up to the Chicane.

The chicane must be taken with caution, however, not too much caution, as you may be overtaken if you're not too careful. You must brake before the initial turn, ease the car in and suddenly complete the right-left chicane.

Once again it's a long run through the trees up to the final Turn 12. Pit entry is on the left.

I hope you've enjoyed a lap of Shanes Park.
