December 2005 - Westlink M7 (Lighhorse Interchange)
With the completion of the 40km Westlink M7, the Lighthorse Interchange (named so to honour the memory of those Australians who served in the Light Horse Infantry, which had a camp nearby during World War 2). This is a four-level stack interchange, allowing for seamless travel between both motorways. The original proposal called for a 'roundabout' interchange, and the removal of the Wallgrove Road ramps for the Western Motorway. Click here for an artist's impression of the original proposal.
